Since joining the Houston Pets Alive! foster network in June, Phuong Trinh has dedicated her spare time to fostering kittens.
Originally from Vietnam, Phuong Trinh moved to Texas to attend Texas A&M University. After graduation, Phuong spent two years in South America before moving back to Houston with her fiancé in April. It 
only took her two months after settling into Houston before she decided she wanted to be a Houston Pets Alive! foster parent.
In June 2017, Phuong Trinh started volunteering with Houston Pets Alive! because the cattery was close to her apartment. Having a heart for cats and kittens, she quickly picked up fostering.
“I love the cats and kitties, and I believe they should have a safe and quiet space to live,” Phuong said. “In addition, I foster to save them from being euthanized, because no animal should be killed simply because they were born and there is not enough space in the shelter to hold them.”

Phuong even took in a medical foster named Waffle. Waffle was pulled from the county shelter by Houston Pets Alive! and was in really bad shape from her leg being caught in a chain link fence. Thanks to support and donations from the Houston Pets Alive! family, Waffle was able to get the medical care she so desperately needed to live, which included the amputation of her leg. With Phuong’s help, Waffle is making a full recovery and will be ready for her forever home soon.

“Waffle is a lap kitty,” Phuong said. “She’ll cuddle with you on the couch and make biscuit/kneading dough with her front paws while purring.”
Waffle will be in need of her furever family soon.
Phuong reports Waffle is not a very active cat, but it is probably because she only has three legs. If you want to make Waffle a member of your family, you can apply to adopt her at houstonpetsalive.org/adopt.
In addition to fostering Waffle, Phuong also has another foster – Corey!
“I picked him up from the Stella Link hub two weeks ago and I am still fostering him now,” Phuong said. “He is a sweet and playful kitty! He follows me everywhere I go and loves to be petted.”
When Phuong isn’t fostering, you can find her taking fun courses on EdX and hanging with her brown tabby who she adopted from the Houston SPCA in 2015.
